Adams was one of seven siblings who grew up when she was a kid in Castle Rock, Colorado. Her birth was during the time that her father worked in the U.S. Military in Italy. The mid-1990s saw her begin performing professionally and dancing in Colorado's Dinner Theatre and the Country Dinner Playhouse in Colorado. In Minnesota she performed at a regional theater where her role in Drop Dead Gorgeous (1999) was a comedy documentary that focused on beauty magazines. After moving to Los Angeles, she pursued an acting career after her debut film in where she played the dizzy, but friendly contestant. She was the wife of actor Tony Curtis from June 1951 until September 1962, and was she was the mom of Kelly Curtis and Jamie Lee Curtis. Leigh, discovered through actor Norma Shearer Leigh signed a deal with MGM to start her journey as a film actress in the mid 1940s. The decade following she was in a variety of well-known films like Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho (1960), and Living It Up by Martin and Lewis (a 1954 film).
