Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford was born in America. She is an actor as well as a singer and dancer. One of her first Broadway productions included Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. The role she played as Essie Carmahiel in You Can't Take It With You as Essie Carmahiel won her the Tony Award in Best Featured Female Actor in the Play. Annaleigh Ashley Tony Award winning actor and actress has collaborated with directors and actors in stage and on screen throughout all of her career. Ashford next will star opposite Kumail in Robert Siegel's exclusive Hulu show Welcome to Chippendales which premieres November 22. Ashford currently works on Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust opposite Sarah Paulson, Ebon Moss Bachrach and Ebon Mosch Bachrach. The film will stream through Disney's DTC platforms and will be available as a Hulu Original. Ashford will be seen alongside Josh Groban on Broadway's Lunt-Fontanne Theatre for the upcoming March 2023 revival of Stephen Sondheims Sweeney Todd. This show will be directed by Thomas Kail and produced by Jeffrey Seller, the team which created Hamilton. Ashford was Paula Jones most recently in Ryan Murphy's American Crime Story Impeachment, which is based on the scandal that included Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp during the national crisis. In two seasons, Ashford was the main character of the hit show on CBS called B Positive. It was co-produced by Chuck Lorre with Marco Pennette. It featured Linda Lavin Sheryl Crow, Hector Elizondo as well as Ben Vereen. Ashford is no stranger to Broadway. Her portrayal of Essie in You Can't Take It with You earned her Tony Drama Desk Awards and Outer Critics Circle Awards. Other Broadway credits for Ashford includes Sunday in the Park, as George Wicked legally Blonde, and her role as Lauren In Kinky Boots. For this performance, she was awarded a Tony Award nomination. Ashford, who was raised in Denver and now lives in Los Angeles and New York.
